September 2018 was that moment for me.
My partner of 19 years had just died. After putting all my energy in taking care of him during his battle with cancer, I had to refocus on taking care of myself. My reality was not pretty.
I was single again at the age of 44…
I also
- Had a large mortgage and significant credit card debt
- Was 2 years in my own breast cancer recovery journey (not to mention the high costs coming along with staying alive)
- Was suddenly responsible for all my expenses, including taking care of my mother
- Had no idea how to make the same amount of money I was making before by charging clients one session at the time
- Had no safety net and was not sure I wanted to have another committed relationship
- Was still grieving the loss of the love of my life
All in all, I literally had no idea where my life was going.

Clearly no one knew this was what I was dealing with…
Because “Hey I am a strong woman not afraid to take on a few challenges”…
I did some soul searching and recognized I needed to work on myself and take control of my reality. No one was coming to save me so I had to become my own Rescuer.
I embarked on a mission to face and embrace all parts of myself. To find my true power. I found different ways to explore what my new reality meant. Books, courses, Tarot, NLP, philosophy, tao, dance…
The Covid years and several new personal challenges taught me what I wanted the most was FREEDOM. To have the power to CHOOSE where and how I lived. To come and go as I pleased. To see who I wanted and to stop seeing people who didn’t positively impact my life; to live in many places.
A new vision started to take shape. I made a plan and put it into action.
Then something magical happened.
The life I could not even imagine before started to just become reality.
Over a short period of time, my finances cleared.
I paid my mortgage and my debt. I got a puppy. I started dancing regularly… All things I had been meaning to do for a long time.
My health got better, my workouts got harder and more frequent (and god, did I use to hate the gym!).
I let go of friends who stressed me out and found friends who bring huge joy and happiness to my life.
I fell in love.
Last two years, I traveled for three months each summer, working remotely and having an amazing time.
I turned 50 recently, and I am happy, healthy, motivated and more energized than ever. I even had my first ever Brazillian Jiu Jitsu class.
I literally can’t wait for the next half century to happen.
